Business-Technology Strategy Lifecycle

The IAM Company provides Business-Technology Strategy with the goal of mitigating business challenges with solution strategies (based on a Cost Benefits Analysis) and providing actionable plans for the development/deployment of those solutions. This also includes an understanding of how to monitor the actual benefits to the business.

The path to accomplish this begins with an assessment of business needs and the Enterprises Architecture. Businesses often have a lot of supporting information so the level of detail required at this stage for information gathering (number of interviews, documentation, etc.) is agreed upon with clients before the engagement begins. The objective is to provide an understanding of business requirements in a "functional context". As a prelude to creating the solution architecture, this enables validation of requirements in a context suitable for the translation and modeling of required components.

Overlaying the current solution components enables identifying overlaps and segments missing solution components (i.e. gaps). The overlaps and missing components determine the opportunities for solutions. Different approaches are evaluated to determine the costs and economic value based upon business priorities.

Though clients are provided alternative approaches to achieving the required solutions, they are provided a recommended approach and solution architecture based upon the parameters (constraints, expectations, etc.) provided upon engagement. A method to monitor anticipated cost savings or benefits is provided as well. Based upon client preferences, a high level or detailed plan is provided to transition the implementation of the solution into the enterprise architecture.
